Hunter's Honey Farm Field Trip

 

Our August field trip was to Hunter's Honey Farm in Martinsville, IN.  Our group took a bee hive tour where they got suited up, and went out to tour the beehives.  We also got to bottle our own honey bear, and taste different flavors of honey!!  The kids really enjoyed it!  Here are some pictures from our trip!

Hunter's Honey Farm Field Trip

We will be going to Hunter's Honey Farm in Martinsville on Thursday the 23rd @ 1:00. Please be there about ten-fifteen minutes early to gather everyone together. We will be splitting into two groups for the hive tour, as they don't have enough protective suits for us to all go at one time, so you may want to keep that in min if you're wanting to be with specific people. We will also be filling a 6 oz. honey bear with our own personal label! The tour will be $5.75 per person/ 2 and under is free for the bee hive tour, but will be charged $2.25 if you want them to attempt to bottle honey. We do need to have 20+ people for these prices, so please get back with me as soon as you know whether or not you will be attending.  If I haven't listed your name, please call meTrisha Neal (889-9966) or email me a response. Cascades Park

We will be meeting at Cascades Lower Park in Bloomington tomorrow, Thursday August 9th at 12 noon.  Please bring a packed lunch for your family and join us there!! 

New School Year

Alot of us are getting ready to start our 2012 school year, which means we will also be getting back to our normal homeschool group meetings!!  Are you excited?  Today some of us met, and came up with a plan for the group so that we will know what we are doing each week :)  I have updated the group meetings on the side of this page, so be sure to check it out!!  If you have any questions or would like more info please feel free to email me at sarahswartzentruber@yahoo.com  :)

Easter party

Our Group will hold their Easter Party on Thursday April 5th, Jimmy Nash Park (top) at 1 pm. We are asking parents to bring 20 stuffed eggs per child, so they can have plenty of eggs to hunt. Also please bring a snack/drink to share :) Hope to see you there!!

Planning Meeting

We will meet on Friday August 19th at 1 pm for our planning meeting. We will meet at Sarah Swartzentruber's house, if you need directions email me at sarahswartzentruber@yahoo.com . The kids can bring things to play with and share with others while we plan. Also we will have a pitch in snack so please bring something to share. Thanks and see you then!

Easter party

We will be meeting on Thursday April 21st for our Easter Party. Please be at Jimmy Nash Park around 1! :) We will do a Easter egg hunt and snacks!

Touring Not Just Popcorn

We will be meeting at Not Just Popcorn in Edinburg on Friday March 18th. The tour cost $2.00 a person and includes a bag of popcorn. We plan on meeting around 10:15 and the tour last about an hour. Afterwards if you would like to get some lunch somewhere the group is planning on doing so. Hope to see you there.

Science Fair Friday

On Friday Sept. 25th we will be meeting. Each family is to bring a science fair project to share with the group!

Kids Can Cook!! Jan. 12th!

Next Wednesday, January 12, homeschool group will be held at Heather Vaught's home at 11:00 a.m. The theme will be "Kids Can Cook!" I am asking each family to prepare a simple healthy dish and bring the recipe to share for our pitch-in lunch.

The agenda will be as follows:
Brief lesson on nutrition and exercise
a brief physical game/activity
presentation of dishes by each family
pitch-in lunch
go to gym and swim (those who are involved)
Please RSVP and let me know what you are bringing so I can make sure I have each food group represented. I think it would be fun to make and distribute a little cookbook
from the recipes.
You may want to take pictures as you make the dish and we can take pictures here also of the families with their dishes. Thanks!

Candy has arranged for our group to take a field trip on Nov. 4th at 1pm to Barefeet Sock Factory. Hope everyone can make it!!
